Alot of the foals actions made the audience laugh in just pure cuteness, for example; how they reacted to the flowers and how they squealed whilst they were held by their handlers and their mums were trotted away from them , handlers were asked by the judges to hold onto the foal whilst the mother trotted away from them, the foals were then allowed loose so the judges could see how they cantered so to perform in front of the judges. They were so cute. I got up early to do all my neds and was drenched for my drive to Myerscough it wasn't any brighter up there either. I went to watch my old mare Pearl with her baby as they were entered in the eventing section and their other friends from their stables who were entered in the dressage section(three in total).
The poor humans had to go back and forth twice with the horse box and trailer, they had three mums and babies to take. One of the mares they took was very naughty, she wouldn't budge an inch, why oh why do they show you up like that in the need to perform lol, horses eh.
Her foal showed impeccable manners but the mare was a naughty big disappointment, sadly, because she would'nt move, the foal wouldn't move and show off for the judge which resulted in receiving a 2nd premium.
The other foal received a high score first premium but the star of the day was, and I say so proudly.... Pearly's baby Fabio. Fabio received a High Score 1st Premium in the eventing section, 1st out of the foals and 3rd over all in the 15 entries which included the yearlings and up to three year olds. He was given fabulous results including that for his powerful movement, it was just his weak foal frame that let him down from getting an elite due to being the lowest score of the day through the vet and conformation section, but he was the youngest!
My hubby cycled to myerscough to meet me , he is so beautiful. It was then time to leave and as it did the sun started to shine! Typical. After getting back home I went to sleep for four hours, wow, I must have been shattered. So proud of Pearl, she is such a well behaved nedlet and proud mummy to her babies, she didn't like him being left behind her as she trotted away from him awwww.
